For my family medicine rotation we had Professor Sadat as our site evaluator. For this specific rotation we had one meeting/evaluation and met on blackboard ultra on our last week of the rotation. This gave us plenty of time to get the most out of our rotation and have a plethora of different experiences to talk about.
For our Evalution we wrote 3 complete history and physicals, did one journal article summary, and had 5 pharm cards. We presented one H&P and then talked about our journal article. I thought this was a very well and organized meeting, as we presented on the cases that we wrote the article summary about. Writing 3 full H&Ps also gave us a lot of practice with note writing. For family medicine the history and physicals are very thorough and complete, so we had to make sure we charted every aspect of the ROS and physical exam. We also got good practice writing assessments and treatments, as well as noting down the referrals we gave to the patients. After presenting our patient, the Professor then asked some follow-up questions about why certain differentials were preferred over others and why we chose certain medications. This was a very good review as it made us think and work as a team to help the other students out. We then went on to present our articles which was a good way to discuss research and up to date evidence about the patient case that we discussed. We went through base of the article and how it related to our patient. I presented on a patient who was coming in for post-COVID cough ongoing for 2 months, which I thought was very relevant and interesting, as it is something that we will have to deal with a lot of in the future of primary care after this pandemic. I also presented on an article about how to manage post acute COVID symptoms in primary care with symptomatic care and breathing exercises.
Overall it was great doing an evaluation with the professor, as he was very attentive and cared for how our rotation was going. It was also nice to do this with my fellow students in this rotation as we got to listen to them present and learn from each other.
